A breakdown of the different courses available.

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
CBT was introduced on the 1st of December 1990 to try to reduce the accident statistics of motorcyclists. In its first year it achieved a 43% reduction. Sixteen years further on and the CBT, which is constantly updated to increase safety and promote safe riding skills, is still doing its job.

A1/A2 125cc courses
These courses run from three to five days in total, or longer if necessary. The first day would generally be the CBT course unless you already hold a valid certificate. The remaining days consist of taking you through everything you need to know to pass your practical test and hopefully taking you beyond the required standard. The last day of the course would normally consist of a couple of hours training and then your test. This is to try to insure that you are not tired when you take the test, thus giving you the best chance of passing. However, if you require the whole day every effort will be made to ensure that you have the best possible chance of passing.

Direct Access Scheme (DAS) courses
These courses run from three to five days in total, or longer if necessary. The first day would generally be the CBT course unless you already hold a valid certificate. The remaining days consist of taking you through everything you need to know to pass your practical test and hopefully taking you beyond the required standard. These courses are conducted using 600cc machines.

the m/c theory & hazard perception test
The theory test now has to be taken by everybody. The best way to tackle this is to get hold of a copy of the following book-

"The Official theory test for motorcyclists: Valid for tests taken from 4th September 2006" - ISBN: 0115527508

It has ALL the questions and answers which you could be asked during the test, it is written by the DSA, the people who set the tests!.

The test consists of thirty-five questions of which you must get thirty right to pass.

The hazard perception part of the test involves watching a number of video clips depicting hazards. During which you must identify by clicking the mouse button, when the hazard develops.

To book a theory test please call 0870 010 1372 or logon to www.dsa.gov.uk remembering to have your driving licence and a credit / debit card to hand to pay for the test.

the practical test
AFMCTlogo_small Motorcycle Training currently has an exceptionally high first time pass rate. This is largely due to the fact that unlike other schools we don't teach you to pass the test, we teach you to ride a motorcycle.
